Khao Yai National Park

Private Tour | 1-day wildlife tour in Khao Yai

Why?

Khao Yai National Park deserves more than just a 1 day visit, but for those with limited time a day tour is still a great way to get a taste of the jungle.

The reserve is great for wildlife watching, but with just one day you will need quite a bit of luck.

What?

A day tour in Khao Yai contains hiking, safari drives, a visit to a waterfall and a scenic viewpoint. A mix of wildlife watching and enjoying scenery.

Itinerary

This is an example itinerary. The program might be changed due to weather conditions, accessibility issues or any other obstacles.

The tour is from 8 am to about 6 pm

We will meet you at your hotel or other pick-up location we agreed on.

The daytrip starts with a drive looking for wildlife like gibbons, hornbills, macaques and other animals along the road.

We continue the tour by heading to a trailhead to set out on a jungle hike to learn more about the forest inhabitants and the plantlife. Even if you're not lucky with wildlife encounters, the massive strangler fig trees make it all worthwhile. By the end of this walk we'll have a Thai lunch at one of the park restaurants.

We continue the program with a visit to one of Khao Yai's famous waterfalls known from Leonardio Di Caprio's "The Beach" movie, and the late afternoon we spend mostly by car to check the various saltlicks and foraging areas where elephants might show up.

At the end of the trip, you will be returned to your hotel or other destination we agreed on.

White-handed gibbons are very common in the park
Water monitor
Asian vine snake

Our guide, Tata, was patient and very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the Khao Yai National Park. He was also thoughtful and made sure we were well hydrated during the tour. Definitely would recommend him!

Was a great day. It rained so night safari was cancelled but we enjoyed it overall.

We were very happy with our tour guide. He communicated the activities for the day very clearly, and he worked hard to make sure that we had the best opportunity to see the wildlife.

When we had some downtime, he was also likeable and social, so that we felt very welcome. Thank you for the wonderful day.

We enjoyed our trip very much! Our guide was very nice and tried to show us everything in the park. He was committed and answered all our questions. We saw Gibbons, Macaces and more. But the best part of the tour was when we saw an elephant at the end. We surely will book again here.

The tour was amazing! Thank you for your help and patience with organising it, I know I had many questions but you just made everything right :)

Our guide Lek was a really great guy, he had awesome skills in spotting animals, he could see a spider from a few metres, like how?? :) He was so involved in our trip and he tried so hard to show us everything he could and he has so much knowledge about the animals and plants, he can answer all of our questions. He has lovely personality and we are so happy that we could spend the day in the jungle with him and learn a lot of amazing things.

We could see hornbills, gibbons, monkeys, lizards, snakes, squirrels, deers, water monitors and one elephant - Lek gave us an unforgettable chase and that was totally worth it :D

We will recommend this trip to everyone coming to Thailand!!! Thank you SO MUCH!!!

We would like to thank Lek, our tour guide for such an amazing Khao Yai National Park experience. He showed us many wildlife (snakes, hornbill, elephants, gibbons, butterflies, deer) and had extensive knowledge on all of them. He also took great care of us, ensuring us wonderful meals and our safety. We saw fantastic waterfalls and cliff views, which we now have many photos. He was also very time efficient. We had so much fun on this expedition. We would highly recommend and are looking forward to our next visit! :)

Tour guide of 20 years, he has very sharp eyes and ears to find the animals. Though we didn't get to see the elephants, we saw Gibbons, hornbills, sea dragon, large squirrels and owl. That's quite a lot of animals in one day.

He was also punctual and manage time very well.

Definitely will come back to catch the elephants, probably on a different season.

Tour operator's response

Dear Yongliang,

If you return to Thailand and elephants are on your wish list, I'd recommend to book our tour in Kui Buri national park next time.

There is a very high success rate there. Much higher than Khao Yai, even though they are not uncommon in Khao Yai.

Thank you for your kind review, and hopefully we hear from you again ;)

Thanks!
